Our You are beautiful -project got the best possible feedback after the fall of 2010 planting sessions.
A concerned mother of kids going to a small local school contacted us. Their very own school was under the threat of shutting down and the kids hauled over to the town centre to the bigger school far away.
Needless to say, the parents fought this very hard, and we were asked if they could use a part of Olet kaunis! as a gentle demonstration for their school.
We said no way. We’ll make you a better one.
So BOTH younger generation AD Ruth, 8 yrs, was commissioned to write “Olet tärkeä” (You are important) with different felt pens, the best writing of which was then turned into a series of planting instructions to suit the yards of different school yards. The sizes of the instructions vary from 15 meters to 5 meters wide. Make it big.
Together with the parents we concepted a nation-wide campaign idea, where all small schools are encouraged to take part and on the “Kodin ja koulun päivä” (the day of the home and school) on the 16th of September they can invite all children, families, local media and decicion makers to take part in the planting of the bulbs.
The material is a few-page document (in Finnish only, sorry!). Please plant wherever. Click and click again on the pages to make them bigger.
Pease feel free to download and use. But if and when you do, please let us know and share pictures.
The material can be also downloaded from the Vanhempainliitto pages (Finnish Parent’s Society) later on.
One important thing: make sure you reserve your bulbs early enough. They just might run out. Seriously.
Here’s the Piikkiö Harvaluoto school in spring 2012.
Here’s a pic from the Harvaluoto school itself. No harmonica was there, but an open fire and sausages.
And this image is from Karjaa, the Klinkbacka school.
Please feel free to provide us with more images!
And here are the planting instructions page by page:
